THE SOLUTION
Our project focuses on the needs of those interested in gardening, specifically in an urban environment and without access to outdoor space. Many users interested in indoor gardening, reported their distressing experience of searching for a new plant, setting-up and taking care of the plant, and being helpless when the plant is sick. Urban Planters is a platform where users can find the right plants according to their location, expertise levels, the lighting of the room, and other factors. Users can learn to set up through video or instructions from an expert and ask them for diagnosis if their plant is sick. It also includes reminders, so the users never forget to take care of their plants. It is a mobile application to solve your gardening problems.
Interactive PrototypeHere's the motivation
Our goal was to create something that addresses nature in some way, so we decided to focus on the needs of gardeners in urban areas because while living in the city, we have noticed a lack of green spaces. Our project focuses on the needs of those interested in gardening, specifically in an urban environment and without access to outdoor space. How might we ease the process of indoor gardening
to alleviate stressful parts for people who are interested in it?
We started the design process with all potential users in mind. We determined 3 goals we want to achive based on information we gathered from the user interviews.
Let me be concise a little bit:
EASY, NO STRESS, HEALTHY PLANTS
After brainstorming we set 7 design requirments and made storyboards to describe our users scenario.
1. Get reminders to water plants on schedule
2. Retrieve instructions in regards to a specific plant’s care instructions
3. Find in-depth description about their plants
4. Consult experts for advice when plants (objects) are not growing well
5. Suggest new plants to grow that are right given the place and the users skills
6. Evaluate using a light sensor to predict the best plant that can be grown
7. Automatically identify a specific diagnosis of plant disease or care error using the camera
In order to plan our design process for the app, we created two interation of information architecture diagram. The numbers included in the boxes correspond to prototype mock-ups.
We went through 3 iterations of our prototype to make sure we achieve our goal.
An initial lofi prototype with 4 users usability testing.
An wireframe with peer critique.
And a hifi prototype.
Here's the final clickble prototype, I hope you enjoy this!
